6+ years designing B2B infrastructure software. Complex systems, made manageable — so the people running them can focus on what actually matters.

Exploring the evolving role of design — and the designer — as AI reshapes how products are built and experienced.

I also built an AI assistant into this portfolio.

My design journey

I'm Penny — a product designer with 6 years of experience, most recently at VMware where I spent 4+ years designing enterprise infrastructure software. Before that, I designed personalized banking experiences at Citi, helped launch a cashback-to-donation app at a startup, and interned at Google working on Google Duo — a feature to help people stay connected with the people they love.

My path into design started in Library and Information Science — a field built around bridging people to the information they need. As information evolves into richer forms, the core remains: making it accessible and usable to the people it's meant for. That curiosity about creating great experiences led me to pursue a graduate degree in Human-Computer Interaction.

My design strength lies in creating within constraints and utilizing diverse research methods to facilitate design decisions. I believe design should amplify our ability to be human.

Fun facts about me

My full name is 江佩霓 (Jiāng Pèi-Ní), which symbolizes a river adorned with a rainbow. That's where my logo comes from.

I grew up in Taipei, Taiwan. Five years in the US for grad school and work brought me across the Pacific, and Vancouver is where I landed — and fell in love with. When I'm not designing I'm in the mountains snowboarding or hiking, or on my cozy sofa reading and watching movies with my large ginger cat.

I'm a 5-star rated pet sitter on Rover. Caring for others comes naturally — animals included.
